As Mr Madd Loans himself, owner George Samios is immensely proud of how far his business and his team have come. An innovator and influencer within the finance and mortgage industry, George also has a swag of awards under his belt to prove it. With a background as a real estate agent and as a mortgage broker for the big banks, he quickly realised that there surely had to be a more transparent way to help everyday Australians navigate the process of obtaining a loan. Thus, in 2012 – Madd Loans was born.
Determined to shatter the image of finance being boring, intimidating and stressful, George has worked tirelessly over the years to make mortgages fun, and to empower and educate new and existing Madd Loans customers. In his nine years of being known as Mr Madd Loans himself, George has since gone on to assemble a team that is considered to be the very best in the business. Hailing from a diverse range of backgrounds, the Madd crew are passionate and at the top of their game – meaning our success rate of getting loans approved on the first application is second to none.
Armed with a vision of positioning Madd Loans as an industry leader full of innovators and influencers, judging by George’s swag of awards that he’s picked up along the way, it’s safe to say that things have gone relatively to plan. Nowadays, George has opted to “come away” from the tools, and instead focus his time, energy and resources on developing the people around him.
There’s no denying the power of the team culture in the Madd Loans office, which is something George has actively worked to foster for a number of years. According to his team, George has a unique talent for bringing out the best in people – while he’s known to push his staff, he knows exactly which buttons to press, and applies a unique approach to each and every one of them.
While the initial plan was to have Madd Loans offices scattered all across Australia, age and experience has made George realise that he is instead perfectly content to be surrounded by family – both by blood, and the team of people that he has chosen as family at work. He’s come to realise that while changing lives does seem like a rather broad task, doing it on a day by day basis for both his clients and his team via initiatives such as the Madd Challenge is what ultimately makes him jump out of bed in the morning to go to work.
As a result, there is an enormous amount of respect in the wider community for George not only as an employer, but as a mentor, a father figure, and a friend. It’s not uncommon for the Madd Loans team to spend large chunks of time together outside of the office, such as hikes as a team bonding experience, or birthdays on a Sunday afternoon at the local lawn bowls club. George steers his ship with complete transparency, and has shifted his focus to cultivating a new generation of mortgage brokers, loan administrators and credit analysts of people from all walks of life, who may have been a little bit lost and without a sense of direction in their lives prior to joining the Madd Loans family.
However, these days George also makes a conscious effort to make it home at a reasonable hour, in order to spend his time with his wife and two young daughters. Although he often escapes to the Sunshine Coast with them and his collection of fishing rods whenever he can, George is ultimately devoted to helping his fellow Brisbanites kick their own financial goals in any way, shape or form that he can. As such, if you aren’t quite convinced that navigating the world of home loans can be simple, streamlined, stress free and even fun – then that’s all about to change.
